Your Practice Program—Reading

¿¬½À ÇÁ·Î±×·¥ - Àбâ
To make the most rapid progress in shorthand, you must practice efficiently. By practicing efficiently, you will achieve two important results: First, you will get the greatest benefit from the material on which you practice; second, and no doubt very important to you, you will be able to complete each assignment in the shortest possible time. ¼Ó±â¿¡¼ °¡Àå ºü¸¥ Áøº¸¸¦ ÀÌ·ç¾î ³»·Á¸é, ¹Ýµå½Ã È¿°úÀûÀ¸·Î ¿¬½ÀÇØ¾ß ÇÑ´Ù. To begin with, choose a quiet place in which to practice—and resist that temptation to turn on the radio! Then follow these easy steps. ¿ì¼± ¹«¾ù º¸´Ùµµ, ¿¬½ÀÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖ´Â Á¶¿ëÇÑ Àå¼Ò¸¦ ¼±ÅÃÇ϶ó- ±×¸®°í ¶óµð¿À¸¦ ÄÑ°í ½ÍÀº À¯È¤À» À̱â¶ó. ±×¸®°í ³ª¼ ÀÌ¿Í °°Àº ½¬¿î ´Ü°èµéÀ» ½ÇõÇ϶ó.

This procedure is vitally important, as it will enable you to save countless hours that you might otherwise waste finding your place in the shorthand and in the key.

Remember, during the early stages your shorthand reading may not be very rapid. That is only natural, as you are, in a sense, learning a new language. If you do every day's assignment faithfully, however, you will find your reading rate increasing almost from day to day.

In Chapter 2 you will meet only three new alphabetic characters. Most of your work will be concerned with the study of useful devices that will help you write more rapidly and easily. For example, you will take up three more groups of brief forms for some of tlie most frequently used words of the language. You will meet 12 word beginnings and endings. Á¦ 2 Àå¿¡¼´Â ¿ÀÁ÷ ¼¼ °³ÀÇ ¾ËÆĺª ¹®ÀÚµéÀ» ¸¸³ª°Ô µÈ´Ù. ´ëºÎºÐÀÇ ÀÛ¾÷Àº ´õ¿í ºü¸£°í ½±°Ô ±â·ÏÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖµµ·Ï µµ¿Í ÁÙ À¯¿ëÇÑ ÀåÄ¡µé¿¡ ´ëÇÑ °øºÎ¿Í °ü·ÃµÇ¾î ÀÖ´Ù. ¿¹¸¦ µé¸é, ¾ð¾î¿¡¼ °¡Àå ºó¹øÇÏ°Ô »ç¿ëµÇ´Â ´Ü¾îµé¿¡ ´ëÇÑ ¼¼°¡ÁöÀÇ ´Ù¸¥ ±×·ìµéÀ» ¹è¿ì°Ô µÈ´Ù. ³¡´Ü°è¿Í ¸¶Áö¸· ´Ü°è¿¡¼ 12 ´Ü¾î¸¦ ¸¸³ª°Ô µÈ´Ù.
In Chapter 2 you will find a new feature that will be extremely helpful to you as you work with each Reading Practice—an Applied Vocabulary Study, which gives you brief definitions of expressions that may be unfamiliar to you. Á¦ 2 Àå¿¡¼´Â °¢°¢ÀÇ Àб⠿¬½À °øºÎ¸¦ Çسª°¡¸é¼ ¾öû³ª°Ô µµ¿òÀÌ µÇ´Â »õ·Î¿î Ư¡À» Á¢ÇÏ°Ô µÉ °ÍÀ̸ç, ±×°ÍÀº ¹Ù·Î ÀÀ¿ë ¾îÈÖ ¿¬±¸À̸ç, Ä£¼÷ÇÏÁö ¾ÊÀ» Áöµµ ¸ð¸£´Â Ç¥Çöµé¿¡ ´ëÇÑ °£·«ÇÑ Á¤ÀǸ¦ ³»¸®°í ÀÖ´Ù.

Be sure that you read each Applied Vocabulary Study before you start the Reading Practice.

Àб⠿¬½ÀÀ» ½ÃÀÛÇϱâ Àü¿¡ °¢°¢ÀÇ [ÀÀ¿ë ¾îÈÖ ¿¬±¸]¸¦ ²À Àеµ·Ï Ç϶ó.
The student studies the word lists by plac¡©ing a card over the type key and reading the shorthand words aloud. She then reads the Reading Practice, referring to the key whenever she cannot read an outline. Notice how the left index finger is anchored on the place in the shorthand; the right index finger, on the corresponding place in the key.
